Understanding Humidity & Temperature: Creating the Perfect Environment for Your Plants

Now that you’ve mastered watering, it’s time to talk about two often-overlooked factors:

humidity and temperature.

Houseplants thrive in stable conditions, and making small adjustments can prevent brown tips, yellowing leaves, and slow growth.

Why Humidity Matters

Most houseplants, especially tropical ones, come from humid environments like rainforests.

Indoors, heating and air conditioning can dry out the air, making it tough for them to thrive.

Signs Your Plant Needs More Humidity

  •  Brown, crispy leaf edges
  •  Leaves curling or wilting, even when soil is moist
  •  Slow growth or dropping leaves

How to Increase Humidity Indoors

  •  Group plants together – They release moisture through their leaves, creating a more humid microclimate.
  • Use a humidity tray – Place a shallow tray of water with pebbles under your plant. As the water evaporates, it adds moisture to the air.
  •  Mist the leaves (sometimes!) – A light mist can help, but it’s only a short-term fix. Avoid misting
